Big Bear Lake

Big Bear is an all-season playground! In the winter, enjoy world-class skiing and snowboarding at Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. During the summer, head to the Big Bear Marina for boating, jet skiing, or fishing. Year-round, you can explore the Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain, hike the scenic Castle Rock Trail, or enjoy boutique shopping and dining in The Village.

It depends on your adventure!

  • Winter (December–March): Best for snow sports and cozy fireplace vibes.

  • Summer (June–August): Ideal for lake activities, hiking, and escaping the valley heat.

  • Fall (October–November): Perfect for witnessing the stunning changing foliage.

  • Spring (April–May): A quiet "secret season" great for peaceful hiking and birdwatching.

Absolutely! Big Bear is incredibly family-friendly. From the Big Bear Alpine Zoo to the interactive scavenger hunts in The Village and the kid-friendly slopes at the resorts, there is something for every age. Our larger cabins (like Cabin 9) and our communal Game Deck and BBQ Deck are specifically designed to host families comfortably.

Big Bear Lake is approximately 100 miles from Los Angeles. Depending on traffic and weather conditions, the drive typically takes between 2 to 3 hours. It is one of the most accessible mountain escapes for Southern California residents.
